Hi. Just wanted to send you two pictures of how I changed and finished your
tractor shed plans.
I moved the man door to the long side and changed the windows to sizes I had
on hand from the main house windows change out. The main change to the plans
is the big door. I went with a sliding track door but I made it look like
barn doors. The doors are a fun look as most people expect them to open out
and not slide. I sided it with cedar bevel on the two visible sides and
T1-11 on the back two sides. The only issue I had and that was partly my
changes was the lumber call out would have been better if called out as size
and not just linear feet. After I ID'd each size and length of board I
totaled it up myself. It also helped with the build time knowing what length
was planned to use where and then cut. (Editor's Note: The above comment is about the way the material list is presented in the plans) Over all build time was 1 week for
foundation, 2 weeks for the framing and roof, a day to primer and another to
paint. The interior electrical is in and I build storage in the rafters with
a ladder access. ( Editor's Note: The plans as drawn do not include attic storage structural loading. This requires a customer designed modification.) Still to come is heat and finish interior walls but have
not gotten the Gas run yet. Summer is still young and should be done by
fall.
I built this to house my motorcycle and it is working out very well. I have
the space to work on it as well as store all my equipment. Would recommend
your plans to others.
I found the sliding door track at "www.Grainger.com" made by Stanley but it was
also available at a local hardware store just at a higher cost. The hardware had a
rating of 450 lbs made of 14 gauge galvanized steel. Where I put the door
and window the door covers the window with the door open but that did not
seem to be a problem as I get light in the window with the door closed and
from the door when it was open.
Thanks
